We give for many reasons.

 

First, we give back to God because he has blessed us. It is our way of showing how thankful we are for all that he has done for us.

 

Secondly, we give because we want to be obedient to God. The Bible calls all Christ-followers to give a tithe or tenth of all that we receive back to God through the church. (In O.T. see Leviticus 27:30; Malachi 3:8-10; In N.T. see Matthew 23:23; 2 Corinthians 8:7)

 

Thirdly, we give because we want to make a difference in this world. Through giving we stabilize those in crisis, feed the hungry, house the homeless, care for the sick, and counsel the mentally ill and substance addicted. We believe everybody deserves to be loved with the love of Christ, regardless of their personal circumstances.

 

Corinthians 9:7 "Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver".

 

Everything we own and everything we have comes from God. So, when we give, we simply offer him a very small portion of what he has already given to us. Giving is an expression of our thankfulness and praise to God. It comes from a heart of worship that recognizes that everything we have already belongs to him.

 

Proverbs 11:24 "One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty".

 

God promises that we will be blessed over and above what we give and also according to the measure that we use to give. But, if we hold back from giving with a ungenerous heart, we hinder God from blessing our lives.

 

What COLM Does With Your Gifts

One hundred percent of everything given goes directly to the ministry of City of Life. We use tithes and offerings to advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the church.

All financial gifts are used toward the expenses of ministry (paying staff, facility expenses, and all other ministry related expenses).

All donations for ministry purpose are charitable contributions. At the year end you will be mailed a statement from COLM indicating your contributions for the year for tax purposes. Please email your address below.
